1. Lake Hefner

Lake Hefner in northwest Oklahoma is popular both as a venue for water sports, as well as for biking and walking along the surrounding trails. The lighthouse at the eastern side is said to be one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city. Drones often take off at the Lakeshore park because of its wide open space, but you can easily explore the rest of the lake once your drone is up in the air.

2. Pops Arcadia, Route 66

A short distance outside Oklahoma City is the famous Route 66, where there’s an odd attraction. Pops Arcadia is a historic diner & gas station with hundreds of different sodas on offer. That’s impressive, but it’s not the beverage menu that attracts drone photographers. They’re more interested in the 66ft LED-illuminated soda bottle out front. It makes a fascinating subject for those who like to capture America’s weird and wonderful landmarks for posterity.

3. Wheeler Park

Wheeler Park is a wide-open space that occupies both banks of the Oklahoma River. The named ‘Oklahoma River‘ is, in fact, a 7-mile section of the North Canadian River. There’s a lot of attractive green space here adorned with established trees. The location is also home to the famous 100ft Wheeler Ferris Wheel. The massive structure arrived here from Santa Monica Pier in 2008 after being bought on an eBay auction for $134,000.

Drone photographers have other interesting scenes to capture around Wheeler Park. There are river lakes surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, boats, trails, and city skyline views.

4. Lakeshore Park

Lakeshore Park sits on a peninsula at Lake Hefner, Oklahoma City. This is a spacious property with lots of flat green space and mature trees, making it ideal for drone flights. The park’s 2,500-acre reservoir awards visitors with spectacular sunsets from its banks. You may even capture a few sailboats gliding majestically across the water if you visit at the right time.

5. Regatta Park

Regatta Park sits along the banks of the scenic 7-mile Oklahoma River. This stretch of water is a popular spot with kayakers, canoeists, dragon boaters, and anglers. Hikers can enjoy nature trails along the banks, while joggers and cyclists can use the smooth paved surfaces. The attractions for camera drones are the pristine landscape, bridges, and nearby railway tracks.

6. Oliver Park

Oliver Park along Santa Fe Ave. is a pretty non-descript park with a small creek running alongside a large open field. It is often not crowded, which makes it a great spot for a casual day of drone flight. The park does attract an odd crowd every now and then, so it's best to fly a drone here with a companion.
