Kansas State Drone Laws
These laws apply in the entire state.

Senate Bill 319

This laws expands the definition of harassment as per the “Protection from Stalking Act” to include drone operations over any dwelling, occupied vehicle, or any other place where a person may have a reasonable expectation of privacy

City and County
Drone Laws
These laws apply in some areas.

Local drone laws in Kansas refer to policies and regulations that are enacted and enforced at the county, city, or town levels.

 

City of Wichita

This city ordinance prohibits all UAS (including drones) from or near airport property or property that borders or is adjacent to airports. The only exception is for UAS pilots granted prior written consent from the airport director. Those who violate this law face a maximum fine of $500 and or a maximum prison sentence of no more than 6 months.

City of Prairie Village

  • Prohibits drone operations within proximity of any person to a degree that is offensive to a reasonble expectation of safety from bodily harm.
  • Prohibits flying drones over individual or an open-air event venue where more than 100 people are gathered without the consent of the venue owner or event organizer.
  • Prohibits flying drones over private property without the consent of the property owner or lawful occupant – The foregoing shall not prohibit recreational drone use over city-owned parks
