1. Washburn Preserve

Washburn Preserve is a great spot for drone flight because of how relaxed and relatively less crowded it is. The hiking trail opens out into the water after about half a mile. There is a wide variety of environments along the preserve that would make for interesting drone shots.

2. Long Beach

If you’re into beaches, then Long Beach in Stratford should be one of the best drone flight spots for you. The wide open space, sandy beach, and expansive surf are just asking for you to fly your drone and take amazing aerial photos.

3. Savin Rock Park

Savin Rock Park in Long Island Sound is a beautifu spot for strolling, fishing, or hanging out. The boardwalk on Oak Street Beach provides a great open space for flying a drone. Interesting rocks and other geological formations off the coast of the beach make for interesting subjects.

4. Castle Craig

Landscapes, city skylines, and postcard sunsets are never boring. Despite that, it’s always exciting to capture aerial footage of less obvious subjects. The 1900 Castle Craig in Connecticut in one such place. You can find this fascinating structure with its 32ft tower in the Hanging Hills‘ East Peak. The builders constructed the castle using dark-colored trap rock, which makes it look like something out of medieval Britain. The surrounding views are equally spectacular, with Mine Island and the Merimere Reservoir surrounded by acres of dense forest.

5. Lock 12 Historical Park

Although not a very large space, the Lock 12 Historical Park has enough open grounds, walking trails, and trees for drone flight and aerial photography. It is mostly surrounded by houses and a few farms. The park can be busy with tourists during the morning, so it would be best to plan your flight missions in the afternoon.
