La Crosse Drone Flying
Locations Map
1. Red Cloud Park
Located next to the meandering La Crosse River, the Red Cloud Park is mostly swamp land characterized by flat terrain. If you’re planning to fly your drone here, it would be best to do so on days when the river water levels are low. The park is quite popular with kids but it shouldn’t be difficult to find spots that are not crowded.
2. Riverside Park
With its spectacular view of the Mississippi River and well-maintained facilities, the Riverside Park is one of the most popular parks in downtown La Crosse. It’s beautiful year-round but looks even better during Christmas when the lights go up. In less busy days, there is enough room here to fly your drone and catch amazing shots of the adjacent river.
3. La Crosse River Conservancy Area
Located in the La Crosse River valley, the La Crosse River Conservancy Area is a natural area that is open to the public for hiking, fishing, or birdwatching. With plenty of hiking trails and wide open spaces, this is a great place to fly your drone without having to worry about crowds.
4. Mormon Coulee Park
The Mormon Coulee Park is a small park in southeast La Crosse. The Mormon Creek cuts through the park’s forested areas, but there is also plenty of open space for drone flight. This is a great spot for some light drone flight practice, but Mormon Coulee Park is significantly smaller compared to other La Crosse parks.
