1. Mud Island Park
This small penisula is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west and Wolf River to the east. This 52 acre picturesque park has it all. It's very close to downtown Memphis and you can regularly see riverboards cruising down the Mississippi. The Interstate 40 bridge can be photographed at a distance from the park and the iconic Bass Pro Shop pyramid is also visible. There are also wide open grass areas to fly and plenty of open water.
2. Greenbelt Park
Greenbelt Park is a peaceful greenspace in Memphis, TN. The idyllic riverside spot sits along the west side of a small peninsula called Mud Island. It’s the go-to strip for local walkers, cyclists, picnickers, and lovers of magnificent sunsets. Greenbelt Park is also a great place to fly drones. Aerial views of the Mississippi River, its islands, and the spectacular Hernando de Soto Bridge are breathtaking, especially with a low sun.
3. Riverside Park Marina
The Riverside Park Marina is on the banks of the Mississippi River. You can fly to Treasure Island from here which is a big island surrounded by the river on both sides. People say that the marina is not the cleanest nor that well upkept. The King Riverside Park is adjacent and it features a large pond and some small grass open areas.
4. Martyr’s Park
Martyr’s Park is a scenic waterfront recreation area beside the Mississippi River in Memphis, TN. The park’s name commemorates those who helped others during the Memphis yellow fever outbreak of 1878. Camera drone pilots have access to some incredible footage from this vast property. It’s a dream come true for pontist, with open views of three spectacular river bridges. They include the Harahan (aka Big River Crossing), Frisco, and Memphis-Arkansas Bridges.
5. Nesbit Park
This park is big and it has approximately 12 miles of trails. Most of the park is coverage in thick foilage so it's not the easiest place to fly.
6. Shelby Farms Park
Shelby Farms is an urban park in the heart of Memphis, TN. This 4500-acre property is massive. The park’s aim is to offer everyone a positive experience, and it doesn’t disappoint. It boasts many open green spaces, scenic trails, fishing, cycle tracks, and boating. There are over 20 bodies of waterfront here and a plethora of recreational amenities that cater to all visitors.
Shelby Farms Park allows drones in a designated area called the ‘Drone Zone,’ but you need a permit. After that, you have some spectacular aerial shooting opportunities at your fingertips.
