1. Field’s Point
Fields Point is a historic park in Providence that has a good waterfront view of Narragansett Bay. The park itself is bare and quite small, and is significantly dwarfed by the nearby industrial facilities and storage depots. It's still a good spot for launching your drone if you plan to fly over the bay or the beach.
2. WaterFire Sculpture
WaterFire is an award-winning scuplture located right along the downtown river of Providence that has since become an annual public art performance. The burning braziers attract frequent crowds, so finding a window to fly a drone around can be a challenge. It's well worth the patience, as seeing the river lined with fire is a sight like no other.
3. Governor John Notte Memorial Park
The Historic Governor John Notte Memorial Park is on Wenscott Reservoir in North Providence town. It’s a great place for everyone, including children. The park has sporting facilities and lots of open green space to picnic or just kickback. Walkers can take easy strolls along a network of paved pathways, while kids can have fun at the beachside playground.
Camera drone users can capture themselves in follow-me modes pursuing various activities. The park is a favorite site for jogging, swimming, boating, and biking, etc. Shooting aerial footage of the beautiful tree-lined lake and its sandy beaches is popular too. There’s also the rustic footbridge over a soothing waterfall where the upper reservoir meets the lower.
4. Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy
Providence has many beautiful parks in the city’s north, south, east, and west regions. You can find its Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy or Neut, in the west end. It’s a stunning 88-acre space with a plethora of recreational facilities in designated areas. The park is home to the city’s tallest hill, standing at 296ft. This urban sanctuary appeals to drone users for its picturesque wooded trail, green spaces, lighted walking paths, and freshwater springs.
5. India Point Park
The 18-acre India Point Park is a popular space in the historical Providence neighborhood, Fox Point. It has pleasant, lighted stone walking paths along the river, a pedestrian bridge, and access to a ceremonial dock. It’s also an enjoyable place for families with open green spaces and safe recreation areas for kids to play. Camera drone enthusiasts are fans of the park too. They can film the Seekonk River’s sweeping views, Providence harbor, and the magnificent city landscape.
6. Pomham Rocks Lighthouse
The historic Pomham Rocks Lighthouse is located along the Providence River off the coast of the Riverside neighborhood. Most people appreciate this lighthouse from a distance, but no such limit exists if you go out here with your drone. The parking lot and bike paths in Riverside provide great take-off spots.
7. Wanskuck Park
The Wanskuck Park is a simple neighborhood park in the Providence district. A walking trail goes through a wide open field and forested area. The park is just large enough to satisfy a need to explore or just fly around with your drone. Lots of people go to this park with your drones, so be extra careful about where your drone lands and takes off.
