1. Point of View Park
Point of View Park is a picturesque Pittsburgh parklet, located on Mt. Washington. It gets its name from the Point of View Sculpture. The all-bronze statue depicts George Washington in discussion with the then leader of the Seneca people, Guyasut. Point of View Park offers a unique vantage point like none other. Camera drones can capture downtown Pittsburgh’s incredible panoramic views, the twisting Ohio River, and several bridges.
2. Aspinwall Riverfront Park
Just outside Pittsburg, along the banks of the Allegheny River, sits Aspinwall Riverfront Park. It’s a small yet scenic recreation space a mile from the impressive Highland Park Lock and Dam. Action drone users can film themselves kayaking on the river during summer or sledding in the winter. Those who prefer to capture picturesque aerial views can film the nearby dam, surrounding riverscape, and the photogenic industrial railway bridge.
3. South Shore Riverfront Park
Southside Riverfront Park and Trail sit on the shores of Pittsburgh’s Monongahela River, close to the bowstring arch Birmingham Bridge. The park is part of Pittsburgh’s famous Three Rivers Heritage Trail system. People come here to sit and relax, walk, enjoy a picnic, and for boating. The attractions for camera drones are the Birmingham Bridge, scenic riverscapes, boats, and the wonderful Pittsburgh skyline.
4. Lake Elizabeth
Head over to West Park – Lake Elizabeth in Pittsburgh if you’re attracted to smaller recreational spaces. The park’s picturesque landscape surrounds the small manmade lake that replaced the original pond. West Park is such a pretty spot for drone footage, and you don’t have to fly far to take it all in. It guarantees picture-postcard views of green lawns, calm water, and quaint pedestrian bridges. The backdrop offers passing trains and views of the distant city skyline.
5. Millvale Riverfront Park
Millvale Riverfront Park is a narrow park that runs along and meanders with the Allegheny River. The main feature of the park is a 1.7-mile trail that runs the park's entire length. The green strip is a great spot to launch a drone and see over the river and the nearby Washington Crossing Bridge and Herrs Island.
6. Boyce Mayview Park
Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair offers a diverse scenery and activities. The southern side of the park has a network of walking trails and a vegetable garden, while other areas are reserved for ball fields and event centers. The extensive woodlands are great for flying your drone in an uncrowded space. Flying a drone close to the northern recreation center is not recommended.
