Local drone laws in Missouri refer to policies and regulations that are enacted and enforced at the county, city, or town levels.
Jackson County
- Prohibits the use of drones and other remote-controlled aircraft in areas that are not designated for such operations.
- A person operating a drone within designated areas in Jackson County parks must first purchase a proper operating permit issued by the County.
- A person operating a drone within designated areas in Jackson County parks shall display frequency flags and channel numbers on the transmitter.
- Liability insurance of at least the minimum limits offered by the AMA will be required for all drone operations on or above park land.
- Prohibits the use of drones with a sound level in excess of 98 decibels from a distance of 50 or more feet.

City of Columbia
Prohibits all drone operations within city parks except only in designated areas and upon securing a Special Use Permit issued by the director of parks.

St. Louis Forest Park
Allows drone operations in St. Louis Forest Park but only after application through official channels. Interested users may submit applications to the City Hall for a Public Service Permit. Applications must include a copy of the pilot’s license, a description of the specs of the drone, and insurance with $1 million coverage.
