Boise Drone Flying
Locations Map

1. Eagle Island State Park

Eagle Island State Park offers some wonderful unrestricted airspace as well as some natural coverage around the Boise River which flows immediately along the north edge of the Park. Several historic structures provide nostalgic sunrise and sunset shots. A Park entrance vehicle fee of $5, or park nearby and walk in with no cost. Be mindful and aware of red-tailed hawks and eagles in the area as to potential birds of prey attacks. The author of this article, having flown there 3+ years, has yet to have experienced such.

2. Table Rock

After a 3.5-mile uphill trek, the Table Rock offers one of the best views of Boise and the Treasure Valley. On Table Rock itself is a Christian cross that, while surrounded by a cyclone fence, could be a nice subject for videography. With multiple ledges and caves, exploring the Table Rock surface and launching your drone from different spots is an enough of an adventure on its own.

3. Ann Morrison Park

The Ann Morrison urban park along the Boise River is a large recreation area with picnic grounds, tennis courts, softball fields, and an outdoor gym. If you can come here on its less busy days, you should easily be able to find a safe spot to launch a drone. You can fly your drone over Boise River but refrain from flying too close to the Boise Zoo.

4. Swan Falls Dam

On the Snake River south of Kuna, Idaho, Swan Falls Road will take you 15 miles to southern Ada County to Swan Falls Dam. The snake river canyon in that area is wonderful and picturesque for drone video either above or below the dam itself. Be mindful to not drone over the Dam as it is qualified as critical infrastructure.

Optionally on Swan Falls Road, minutes before you arrive at the Dam, is the turn out for Dedication Point, which offers a pure unrestricted drone-friendly area where you are just feet from the 320+ foot edge of the cliffs overseeing the gorgeous Snake River Canyon below.
