1. Lake Helena
Lake Helena in the Helena Valley is a large body of water that came about because of the construction of the Hauser Dam. Today, Lake Helena has become a popular spot for fishing and for biking around the surrounding trails. There are a lot of excellent spots to fly your drone here. It’s also a great vantage point for photographing the mountains to the north.
2. Crow Peak and Elhorn Peak
Serious hikers will get a kick out of the 4-hour hike up to the twin peaks of Crow Peak and Elhorn Peak. The great thing about this trail being quite challenging is that it rarely gets crowded. If you want to reward yourself with a quick drone flight upon reaching either of the two peaks, you should have no trouble finding a wide open spot to safely take off. As with any high peak, be mindful of strong winds before flying your drone.
