1. Christopher Columbus Park

The Christopher Columbus Park is the only park within the city that has been designated for UAV operations. The designated area measures around 1700 feet x 1400 feet and is bounded to the SE by Silverbell Lake. Drone operations are prohibited over the lake, but it makes a good subject for drone photos and videos.

2. Tanque Verde Wash

The Tanque Verde Wash can be accessed by a short hike from the East Reddington Road or you can fly your drone directly from the dirt road. This spot area has a wide open space overlooking the scenic Tanque Verde wash and falls. The eroded wash, lush trees, and mountain backdrop are perfect for making cinematic shots.

The Tanque Verde Wash has become a favorite spot for drone pilots in Tucson. The place can get crowded during the weekends, so be particularly alert for other drones nearby. Also be on the lookout for manned helicopters that may fly inside the canyon, possibly involved in a SAR mission.
